Title I School Improvement Home Page

School Improvement is a designation pertaining to Title I schools only. This school designation is a result of not making AYP, Adequate Yearly Progress, for at least two consecutive school years. AYP is determined by analyzing the most recent AIMS performance of the entire school as well as subpopulations within the schools. These subpopulations include the 5 major ethnic groups (White/Caucasion, Black/African American, Hispanic, Native American, and Asian), English Language Learners (ELLs), Special Education students, and Economically disadvantaged students--those eligible for free or reduced lunch. If any of these subgroups fail to meet the Annual Measurable Objectives (AMOs) or benchmarks set by the state, then the school does not make AYP.
